Celebrating 2007 By Filling our Bellies We celebrated New Years Day at Trevor & Esther's with all the Kary families, the Thomases, the Lytles, Andrew, and a few other friends from church. Everyone brought “ethnic” dishes. Of course the Karys prepared lots of yummy German food while the Thomases and ourselves brought some Tex-Mex. Jim went home a bit too full! Guess Who Flew In? That's right, Uncle Ryan came up to see us all the way from Colorado. Okay, so he really came to meet Addison, but Jim & I like to still think we are important too. We had an excellent time with him. We mostly just hung out, played with Addie, and cooked. Ryan even made us a buttermilk pie ~ a traditional Powell dessert that reminds us of our Granny & Granddaddy. Jim and Ryan also made a weekend trip into the mountains for some snowboarding. The road up to Lake Louise was closed so they ended up at Sunshine Village (the Banff ski resort). Ryan is completing his 4th year at Colorado State University. He will be graduating in May with a Corporate Finance degree. Yippee! His big sister is quite proud of him. We can't wait to see where the Lord will lead him next. Thanks for coming Ryan. We miss ya already and you know Bandit does too! A Roll to Remember After taking Ryan to the airport in Calgary, we made our way back home through blowing snow and crazy wind. Once we were back in our cozy, warm home Addie decided to impress us by rolling over for the first time. I don't give her much tummy time as she definitely prefers to be on her back so I was surprised when she just flipped herself right on over to her back. This little gal knows what she wants. Farewell but Not Goodbye GoodSeed had a going away party for our co-workers Paul & Kathleen this month. They will be heading to the States in February. Though they will no longer be working out of our Canadian office, P&K will continue to be very involved with GoodSeed, specifically in the areas of teaching, writing and representation. They will be missed dearly! Our Very Handy Handyman John Krajec from the US office came up near the end of the month to help out in the Olds office while many of our staff were away representing GoodSeed at Missions Fest Vancouver & Manitoba. While here he offered to help us work on our basement. Last spring John completed the electrical work for us, and now he is tackling the taping and mudding. It's really starting to look nice. What a blessing it is to be one step closer to completing the space down there. After only one day of working at the house I noticed John arrived the next day with his iPod in hand ~ I think he was hoping to avoid Addie's baby Mozart and farm animals music! Not to worry, we can empathize. In addition to his many talents he uses for GoodSeed projects, John is also great with his hands and loves to help others. Thanks so much John for your many hours of hard work! |
