Jenny is one of Addison's imaginary friends. There is also a Charlie, but we don't know much about her yet except that she likes to exercise with Addie, and she joined us for milkshakes one night. Yes, Charlie is a girl. Go figure. Now back to Jenny. She started hanging out around here earlier this month. Apparently Jenny has pink hair and wears blue shoes. I recently discovered that Addison stole the idea for Jenny's name and "look" from a blond character on Bob the Builder who has a funky pink strip of hair. That explained a few things.
As Addie & Jenny were playing this morning, I remembered a story from last week that I wanted to share. I was taking down Ayden's johnny jumper from my bedroom door frame to put into the hall closet for storage. As I was getting ready to toss it on the floor I heard this horrified gasp as Addie shrieked, "Mom! Nooooo! Jenny's in there!!!" She came running at me in desperation. Oops ~ I already dropped the jumper to the ground. I stepped back and watched Addie gently lift Jenny out of the jumper and onto the floor in the hallway. Whew! Close call, but she was okay. No harm done. Good deal.
Now that Jenny as out of danger, I decided to get on with my morning. As I headed into my room I heard another dramatic yelp as Addie exclaimed in a panicked voice, "You stepped on her! Mom! You STEPPED on Jenny!" I turned around to see my wide eyed daughter looking at me like she couldn't believe my insensitivity. Addie took a moment to collect her thoughts. Then in a very serious, motherly tone she said, "Mom, you need to apologize. Please tell Jenny you're sorry." I have to admit, it was super cute.
Thankfully I haven't had anymore personal encounters with Addie's little Jenny. I think she's scared I'll trample her again if she gets too close.
