Above is a slide show of the basic process that I went through as the photographer for the new book cover of GoodSeed's latest tool called "By This Name". (NOTE: Use the "pause" button on the far right if you want to stop for a closer look. Or use the "-" and "+" buttons to step through the show manually.) About the Book "By this Name" is an ideal book to help explain the message of the Bible to our post-modern, post-Christian, & secular society. Written for those in a culture influenced by Pantheism, Polytheism and Animism, "By This Name" peels the religion off the sacred book, the Bible, and lets the ancient story speak for itself. In the process, a message of hope snaps into focus. Purchase "By This Name" About my Involvement John, the author of the book, asked me to come up with a design for this new book and unlike any other project I have had, he gave me no parameters. I knew I wanted to utilize an element of photography, which I am presently learning, but other than that I wasn't quite sure. To begin I delved into the historical event of Exodus 3, which really sets the stage for the whole book - where Moses is introduced to Yahweh at the burning bush. Myself and Scott McGhee (a graphic designer who provided the layout and additional graphics for the book) began to brainstorm the concept. We really wanted something that captured the intensity of God's glory as He confronted Moses . Our original idea included the aged Moses blocking the the glory of God from his eyes, but in our design process the young boy became an obvious replacement for Moses. If you interested in how that decision was made, you're best to read the book, but here's a hint...he represents the young boy in the global classroom. Get "By This Name |
