I'm guilty. I did it because I wanted to "appear" as the person I long to be. Just to feel that instant satisfaction of self appearing better than it did a few minutes before. Motivation can really be a punk sometimes. I mean how often do I really think my motives through with the Lord before I do that kind hearted deed.

We deceive ourselves sometimes. Keep watch! It's far easier to be selfless for selfish sake.

Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. (Galatians 6:8)
