Thanksgiving

This was our 5th American Thanksgiving in Canada. We certainly tend to miss our families even more this time of year. But part of living so far away and part of growing up is learning to take advantage of opportunities to start your own holiday traditions and celebrations, so we have worked to do just that.

Due to a very busy GoodSeed schedule and the fact that Thursday was not a holiday here (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October), we waited until tonight to have our 3rd Annual Thomas-McCulley American Thanksgiving Celebration in Canada. We have quite the history with Joe & Suz. To make a long story short, the Lord has seen fit to keep our two families very close since we started hanging out together 8 years ago; the details of how our lives have been woven together are really quite amazing.

We had a wonderful evening and had loads of fun watching our four kiddos play and laugh together. Once again we decided to forgo the traditional turkey dinner. Suzanne made us chicken and veal saltimbocca which in Italian means jumps in the mouth! The name is very appropriate...it was soooo good! The cutlets were topped with prosciutto and sage. The verdict is still out as to which was better...the chicken or the veal cutlets; they both were fantastic! I wish we would have thought to take pictures of it.

For dessert I decide to tackle #2 on my 29 Before 30 list by making a Boston cream pie. Interestingly enough, Boston cream pie is actually a cake with a pastry cream filling and a chocolate glaze so the name is a bit misleading. Pie...cake...whatever...it's a tasty dessert! Here's the final product:

about us

The McCulleys
Married in 2000, we are proud parents of Addison, Ayden & Emryn. Originally from Texas, we moved to Canada for five years of mission service and have now made Denver our home.

When JD isn't hanging out with his awesome family, he keeps busy with nerdy web stuff and photography. Les feels privileged to be a stay at home mom ~ a very rewarding & entertaining way to spend each day!
