Last weekend Joe, JD, and I met up with David & Connie in Dallas to see Texas A&M go head to head with LSU at the 2011 Cotton Bowl. Though the Aggies' weren't able to pull off a win, it was still loads of fun.
My father-in-law was a proud member of The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band back in the day. Well, not THAT far back in the day. Cause that would make his boys old. And the wife of one of his boys old. And we are soooo not old! So there. Glad we got that straighten out. Anyway, when JD & Joe were kids, David & Connie took them to the 1988 Cotton Bowl where Texas A&M took down Notre Dame. The guys have such vivid memories of that game so it was cool for them to be able to make some new ones together here in 2011.
I must confess that this Red Raider did, in fact, wear maroon to this particular game as a show of support to my father-in-law. Oh the things we do for family. Just kidding ~ I'm actually just sweet like that. But, I still found myself wanting to get my guns up. Go Tech Go! What can I say? It's hard to learn new things at my young age.
The game was at Cowboys Stadium which was an experience in and of itself. Wow! Personally I thought they went a little over the top in some areas, but hey, I tend to be a penny pincher. And clearly whoever was in charge of decking out that stadium is not! That being said, it really was super impressive.
Thanks David & Connie for putting together a fantastic trip. The weekend was memorable in so many ways!
P.S. ~ Out the back windows of this last photo on the right, you can see the sunset. The colors were amazing! It was quite the sight to see from inside.
