This year we enjoyed three separate Christmas celebrations. We kicked off the holiday by spending Thursday and Friday with my family over in Fort Morgan. Everyone was super excited that my Granny was able to make it and to have JD's brother, Joe, join us as well. We had a fantastic time hanging out, eating awesome food, relaxing in the hot tub, and playing pool. If only we could have stayed longer!
Saturday morning we had our own family Christmas here at home. JD went through the Bible stories surrounding the birth of Christ while Uncle JoeJoe drew pictures of various scenes on the whiteboard. It was a special way to start off the day. We spent the month of December reminding the kids that Christmas is about celebrating the birth of our Savior. While we did do presents, we chose to downplay and/or remove certain aspects of "Christmas" in an effort to keep our eyes fixed on Christ. I think it was a good balance for A&A; their little minds and hearts are taking in so much at this age!
Then JD & Joe's parents flew in Christmas evening. So Sunday afternoon we opened more presents and filled ourselves with even more good food. Over the next few days the kids hardly left a moment for Mac & Nonnie to catch their breaths, but I don't think they minded one bit. A fun time was had by all!
Below is a family photo of the four of us of taken on Christmas morning. As would be expected, Addie & Ayden have grown so much since this time last year. The following link contains the highlights of our holiday happenings. What a great Christmas!
