JD gave me this lovely bouquet on our 10th Anniversary in December. It sits on the window seat in our bedroom, and I often find myself smiling at how the flowers have retained their colors so beautifully.
But what's ironic is that they are just dead flowers. They no longer have life. And like all material things here on earth, they won't last.
So while I enjoy their beauty daily, I find their presence to be unique reminder to myself to dwell on that which endures instead of that which fades away. Which begs the question, what does last?
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever."
~ 1 Peter 1:23-25

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
~ Philippians 4:4-8
