F is for Food, Fun & Forgetfulness
comment icon4 Comments

Here's the deal. I love to cook but have recently come across an annoying problem. I am routinely cooking new dishes and desserts. The problem lies in the fact that a few weeks after I make something new I can't for the life of me figure out where I got the recipe from. I have dozens of cookbooks, even more cooking magazines, and I keep lots of recipes online.

Personally I think the root of the problem has something to do with those mommy hood hormones that your body is graced with after you have a baby. I think we get them as a reminder that we need to be on our toes or else we will never remember anything ever, ever, ever again. Some of you are rolling your eyes, but the mommies out there know what I am talking about.

Anyways, back to the issue at hand. I found my solution in what I like to call my "Handy Dandy Recipe Journal". It is nothing special in and of itself; it's just a journal full of blank pages. But I've started logging what I make, where the original recipe is located, how I changed it, etc. So far I am very pleased with the progress.

Now F is for Found and not Forever Forgotten!

By Jove, I think you've got it!  I must run out and acquire a journal for myself first thing tomorrow, lest I forget who the bedroom alarm clock prankster is.  As long as I can refer to my journal and look in the F for Found section, I will not forget who it is I will most certainly get even with.  What joy smile !!  Mac

I believe I detect a bit of sarcasm...or is that just frustration from the old man that can’t control his alarm clock?  I agree that a journal would be a great investment for you Mac.  It might be a good idea to use it to keep track of how many pranks have been pulled on you, lest you forget how far behind you are in our little war smile

Hey Leslie!

I’m not a mom, but I routinely forget everything:).

I recently solved the recipe problem with an expandable file folder! I just print stuff out, or write it down, and cram it in there.  I think it would help to start alphabetizing the whole thing:).  But it’s a start:).

Can’t wait to see you, Lord willing, at Cari’s wedding!

Sounds like you have a great system Celeste!  I think getting started is always the hardest part.  Then you’re off and running.

It will be so fun to see you next month.  And what a fantastic reason to have a reunion!
