This site is essentially our family scrapbook so I've decided to add a Toddler Talk category so we can remember all the funny things the kids say. Addison is definitely our Chatty Addie . Here are my recent favs:
- Working to get my attention: "Mommy, listen...(double eye bat)...go to park? Okay!" She likes to answer with an excited "Okay!" as though you have agreed with what she just said before you've actually had a chance to respond. I have to admit, this tactic works a majority of the time. She's so excited and cute that you find yourself readily agreeing with her suggestions!
- After I called out to Jim twice in a row but didn't get a reply, Addie proceeded to tell me, "Mom, patience! Wait...daddy." I guess while patience is a virtue, it's also a work in progress around here.
- Addie handed a bite of her food to Jim. He ate it and she told him "Good job!" I guess she thought he needed some encouragement. She also took a bite of her enchilada casserole then exclaimed, "Tasty!"
- "Good Groceries!" (instead of good gracious). This little Addie saying has found it's way into all of our vocabulary. Kind of catchy don't you think?
- Her favorite questions we hear often include: How you doing? What's wrong? You tired, mom? Where are you going? Addie go too? I hold you? (which really means will you hold me?)
- She refers to all her stuffed animals as her "buddies" and has a name for her favorite ones. There's Doofy, Baasley, DC, Marely, and Gus.
- The other day I told her I was about to feed Ayden. She said, "Okay. Ready, Set, Go...feed him!" Apparently it was a race of sorts.
- Me: Do you need a spanking? Addie: "Yes. I'll do it!" Then she spanks her own hand. That's Addie ~ always trying to find a way to help. Hmm....somehow I don't think this form of self-discipline has quite the same effect.
- Addie can tell us that God made a man named Adam and a woman named Eve. But sometimes she changes Eve's name to Sarah (the name of one of her teenage friends that she thinks hung the moon). Pretty cute, but we'll have to keep working to get that one straightened out. I think that could be construed as heresy. Just kidding!
One thing is for sure ~ this little gal is always talking about something (she gets that from me I suppose). She's also always thinking (she gets that from Jim for sure). The gears are constantly turning in that toddler head of hers, and we find it quite entertaining! We love this stage.
