As usual there's never a dull moment at the McCulleys with a toddler running around. Here are some of Addie's latest sayings, notions, and conclusions:
- I had just changed Ayden's dirty diaper when Addie ventured into the kitchen declaring, "Mom, I'm icky too!" I told her I'd change her diaper as well once I finished washing the dishes. She said, "Okay...hold on" then disappeared. When I was done I found her on the living room floor waiting for me. She had laid out a change pad, a single diaper, and a box of wipes for me. This was a first. In our house we have 3 rooms we change diapers in, but apparently now we offer mobile services as well! I did the job then had her put everything back up for me. Nice.
- At the Dallas airport an individual walked by where we were sitting. Addie started hollering, "Hey kid! Hey kid! Come here!" Jim and I had to quickly duck our heads to hide our wide eyes and failed attempts to suppress giggles. The kid she was yelling at was really a very short man. Oh dear. I predict many instances of public embarrassment with this child.
- Also while at the airport, a sweet, little, older lady with white hair sat at a table near us at lunch. She kept smiling at the kids and watching them. Addie returned her smile and calls out, "Hi Grandmother!" I guess anyone of that generation answers to Granny or Grandmother in her world.
- Addie loves to role play. These days she invites us to follow her around the house to get groceries, pick berries, and ride on the school bus. She also often packs her bags, blows us kisses, and says, "Bye Bye. Go to Bible study. See you later, Mom. You come, too?"
- Sometimes I pretend to eat the kids' toes and fingers, and I tell them in a crazy mom voice that I EAT BABIES! So now sometimes out of the blue she will finish her supper then announce, "I Eat Babies!!" Oops. If you ever hear this random and somewhat disturbing proclamation come from Addie, rest assured our child is not the next Hannibal Lecter.
- The word love is now in her vocabulary. "I love Dad!" "I love raspberries." "I love you Ayden." It's so sweet.
- She walks around singing tunes ~ some of which are new ones she learned from our families while were home earlier this month. Mary had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Pattycake, Pattycake, Baker's Man, and Jesus Loves Me are her favs. She doesn't have all the words down just yet, but she's doing surprisingly well.
- Lately she's obsessed with Mr. Potato Head's glasses. She walks around all day sporting his plastic, yellow eye wear. Upside down, right side up...it doesn't matter. You may have noticed them on her in one of the latest Photo Booth pics at the top of our blog (with the September 22nd batch). You can't help but smile ~ especially when she expects you to take her serious while she is wearing them.
